Are you ready to get the kids back on a schedule? Do you have their backpacks packed, the pencils sharpened, and the lunch boxes all lined up? If you said yes, congratulations, you’re ahead of the pack!

Back to school can be extremely hectic, not just for the kids, but for parents, too. Much anxiety stems from not being prepared.

Hopefully these tips can help you and your family get started on the right foot:

  • Prepare ahead: There are many pieces that go into prepping for back-to-school and the long list of to-do’s can be exhausting. Taking things one step at a time and getting a head start can make all the difference in the world. Get the to-do list ready so when you have to make that unexpected stop on your way home you have the supply list saved in your phone and quickly assessable, save time, and allow you to work smarter, not harder.
  • Establish a routine: A week or two before the school year starts begin settling down a bit earlier at night. Push your activities up 30 minutes or so to get your family re-acclimated to what the school nights will look like. Visit the school with your kids so they can get familiar with their new environment.
  • Organize: One of the best ways to prepare for back to school time is to be organized. With school comes a massive amount of paperwork which can consume your household. Designate a spot in your house for homework, permission slips, and any other school-related papers. This little habit of organizing will make both you and your child less stressed when preparing the night before school starts.

Parents and students alike, focus your energy and time on making new memories and maintaining communication with loved ones throughout the school year. School can be an exciting experience for our little learners and with a little preparation and a lot of family support, your child will work through this transition.
