COVID-19 Lessons

I wanted to share some of the things that I have learned during the last couple of months when all of our lives and routines were turned upside down. I am going to try and keep this on the light side – if you know me this is just the way I am.

COFFEE: Most of us start our day by drinking coffee or an energy drink (maybe both). Well I would say that I have learned just how much coffee I drink. The good news is I am not going out to get coffee anymore but I am drinking more from my Keurig machine. I mean not just a little, more like 10 to 12 cups a day maybe more, depending on how my kids are acting. I realized I had an issue when the store I buy my coffee from called me asking if I was really already buying more coffee as they have noticed me ordering every couple of weeks! I just replied saying, “yes homeschooling is going that good!”

HOMESCHOOLING: My wife is a teacher and I know how hard of a job she has, but let me say that I think we all have a new appreciation for what teachers handle at school. I know my daughter is no angel, but seriously, anyone else thinking maybe military school next year for their child? At the very least I can tell you I am sending her to a summer or fall camp. All teachers deserve a raise!

FACE-TO-FACE INTERVIEWS: I do miss the face to face interviews that we normally do while in the office. I feel that while doing those interviews I have a better connection with candidates and can get to know them on a personal level. Also, I heard from a few candidates that they miss being able to come in and have a conversation and putting faces to voices.

PETS: Now on the serious side there has been one thing that will be hard to give up when we go back to the office. I have had three office pets since I started working from home and they have all decided to take up a spot in my office and won’t leave my side. This will be the one thing that I will miss when I have to return to my office. No matter what kind of day I am having they are always wagging their tails and waiting for me to give them another treat.

Please stay safe and I look forward to seeing everyone in the near future!
